(story 2) Pintura International Graffiti Conference
Date: Saturday, April 26
Venue: 3 Warehouses in Downtown, Orlando
Last saturday we set up a table at the Pintura Graffiti Conference downtown. The conference was located on the other side of I4 on Central Avenue. There were 3 warehouses that had all been painted black. At noon graffiti artists started covering the black areas. Me and Tamara got there around 4 p.m. so a good number of drawings were already up. We set up our table right next to the dj booth (prime spot). Seriously, where else would we be?
A lot of really young people were there for most of the afternoon. They were sketching or watching the artists at work. I am not too familiar with graffiti and didn’t know any of the artists there … but after walking around and watching them at work, I grew a huge appreciation of the art and its scene. This conference was a new learning experience for me.
Jay and The Soul Elevation Crew showed up a couple of hours later. We had some equipment issues which was a bit frustrating. But in the end, a lot of people got together to try to help us out and we had music by 9 p.m.! Once the music was on.. it sounded really good!! The Soul Elevation Crew played mostly Classics.. which i love! We also talked to a good number of people who were enjoying the music and passed out all our cd’s. The highlight of the night was these two cute little boys dance battling. Props to WPI entertainment for putting together such an awesome event. And for letting us be a part of it. Some video and pics below.

It would be good to see more of this in Orlando.
